Alternative Gift Season!

We here at Plant With Purpose are committed to planning and attending alternative gift markets throughout San Diego during the holiday season. It is a chance for everyone to escape the typical necktie and frumpy sweater gifts during the holidays. Plant With Purpose offers people the opportunity to choose charitable gifts to donate in the name of their relatives, friends, and associates. You can plant 10 trees in your brother-in-law's name, donate a family garden for your mom, or buy a wood saving stove in your dad's name. You can also buy coffee that supports our Tanzanian programs and check out the Jedidiah t's that are out just in time for the holidays! These are some of the options you will come across at these Alternative Gift Markets! Here are some AGM’s that are upon us!

November 29^th—Shoreline Community Church in San Clemente, CA 9am-1pm.November 29^th—Faith Community Church, 7:30 Saturday night and 11:30 Sunday morning

December 4^th—Radvent at Point Loma Nazarene University San Diego, CA 4-8pm

December 6^th and 13^th—Union Presbyterian in Powell, Wyoming

December 5^th and 6^th—Threshold Ministries in Santa Maria, CA 12/5 from 10am-2pm and 12/6 from 11am-1230pm

December 6^th—Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake, CA

December 6^th—La Jolla Presbyterian Church, San Diego

December 6^th—Village Church, 9am-12pm

December 6^th—University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, WA

December 6^th—St. Paul Episciple- San Diego, CA

December 6^th—St. Peters Catholic Church in Fallbrook, CA 8am-1pm

December 8^th—University of San Diego, 12-2pm

December 10^th—Greenwood Senior Center in Seattle, WA

December 13^th—Flood Church, all four services

December 13^th—Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, 9am-1pm

Let the season begin!

This weekend marked a significant date for myself as Plant With Purpose's Outreach Coordinator and our development team as a whole. We are moving into the holiday season soon and yesterday was the beginning of a flurry of Fairs and Alternative Gift Markets that will take place between now and the new year. Alternative Gift Markets are generally held at churches and homes with the purpose of providing either tangible fair trade products (scarves, baskets, coffee) or intangibles (planting a tree in someone's name) that raise money for a good cause. People can buy these items for presents instead of the traditional gift certificate or sweater.

I am sure I will post this video again later in the year when it is closer to Christmas, but I thought why not start thinking about it a few months out? The advent conspiracy is a movement that has expanded beyond what anyone would have imagined and this video provides inspiration and an invitation to look at holidays with a different mindset this year. Plant With Purpose is excited to participate in over 40 alternative gift markets and fairs through this season and invites you to actively be involved by contacting me at corbyn@plantwithpurpose.org with fairs and AGM's that you would like to represent Plant With Purpose at this year.
